This policy explains what data we process when you use our website and the Wortkarten app.

No cookies: We do not set cookies on our website.

Server logs: Our hosting provider (Germany/EU) processes technical logs for security and stability (e.g. IP address anonymized, timestamp, browser, OS, requested page).

• Account data: First name, last name and email address (if you create an account). Stored on servers in Germany.
• Learning progress: Cards, repetitions, results. Stored locally; if sync is enabled, on servers in Germany/EU.
• Technical data: Device/OS info and app version for support and error diagnostics.
• Subscription data: Purchase receipts and subscription status information supplied by the App Store or Google Play are processed to provide premium access. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in App Store or Google Play account settings. Any free trial will convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.

Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests, stability and security).

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Artificial Intelligence Services

Wortkarten uses artificial intelligence services provided by OpenAI to generate certain learning content, including translations, example sentences and illustrations.

When you request a new flashcard for a word or phrase that is not available in our database, the text you enter may be transmitted to OpenAI for the purpose of generating the requested learning content.

We do not transmit your Wortkarten account information, such as your name, email address or user ID, to OpenAI for this purpose. Please avoid entering personal or sensitive information when creating new flashcards.

AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies and may be reviewed, corrected or improved by the Wortkarten team after generation.

Sentry

Optional error and performance monitoring. Technical error data only; EU region preferred. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Firebase

May be used for authentication, Crashlytics, and optionally performance/analytics. EU/EAA processing preferred; potential third-country transfers based on SCCs. No cookies on the website.

App store statistics

Aggregated, anonymized installation and usage statistics from Apple/Google.

Website uses SSL/TLS. App data secured by OS mechanisms.

We store personal data only as long as necessary. App learning data remains until you uninstall the app or delete the data.
